EDITORIAL NOIR

Editorial Noir is the investigative arm of The Identity House.

It exists to document the shadows of the global hair industry.

Learn More About the Shadows Behind the Hair

Donors have full control over where their hair goes - whether it supports beautiful causes like the Little Princess Trust or Little Lady Locks, or fuels the work we do through The Identity House. We deeply respect and regularly contribute to those charities where we can. We would never divert donations from the powerful impact they have.

But our work?
It goes somewhere a little darker.

The Identity House exists to confront the parts of the hair industry that no one wants to look at - the trafficking, the sourcing, the stories that don’t end in makeovers or magazine spreads. It’s not easy reading. It’s not easy work. But it’s real.

Through our project Editorial Noir, we investigate the global hair trade: who’s involved, who profits, and who gets left behind. We amplify the stories of women and children affected by exploitation - because it’s not enough to feel good about giving. We want to make sure your hair doesn’t end up doing harm.
